Kathak Dance and Instruction - Sandeep Mahavir
Come join us at the Chhandayan Center for a 3-day workshop on Kathak Dance and performance, conducted by renowned dancer and choreographer Sandeep Mahavir.
Students of Kathak may join. Students of all teachers and institutions are welcome. A minimum level of learning experience is required. Students should bring their ankle bells, notebooks, a non-intrusive recording device and may bring their water bottle, if needed. They should wear decent, comfortable and appropriate attire for Kathak. They should be in practice for a certain number of hours in preparation for the workshop.

Sandeep Mahavir
Born on 15 July 1975 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Shri Sandeep Mahavir Kathak was initiated into music by his father Shri Mahavir Prasad Kathak. Later, he received his training in Kathak dance under Shrimati Madhurita Sarang. Shri Sandeep Mahavir has performed extensively at the several prestigious dance festivals within the country and abroad including the Nritya Sangam organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. He has choreographed numerous dance productions and presented them at the several prestigious dance festivals and reality shows on television. Shri Sandeep has also performed in the experimental works with several well-known artists.
Shri Sandeep Mahavir has received several awards and honors including Sringarmani, Nritya Shiromani, and Young Achiever award. Presently, he is imparting training in Kathak dance to young dancers at Nritya Darshan in Mumbai. Shri Sandeep Mahavir was awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for his notable talent in the field of Kathak dance.
