Rent a full-size tanpura from Chhandayan for a concert, a recording session, or a stretch of serious practice. The instrument comes with a soft cover or case.

These tanpuras come in 3 varieties:

• Male (Comfortably Range from C to D in Middle Octave)

• Female (Comfortably Range from G to B flat in Middle Octave)

• Instrumental (Comfortably Range from C to D in Higher Octave)

Rentals are $100 a day with a minimum of 2 days. An increment of $100 is applied per additional day, up to the sixth day. The rental is $600 for a week. In addition, there is a refundable $1,000 security deposit. Under Deposit & Delivery, choose Deposit + In Person Pickup to collect it here, or Deposit + Ship to Me to have it sent for $150. Card processing fees are added at checkout.

The deposit is returned to you by Zelle or check within 7 days of acknowledged return of the instrument. Any damage or late return will be deducted from the deposit. A rental day ends at 7 PM each and every day during weekdays.

Renting for longer than a week? Add the periods together in your cart. For nine days, add 1 Week with your deposit-and-delivery choice, then add 2 Days with Additional days — already charged. The deposit and shipping on the first line cover the whole rental.

Extending a rental you already have? Choose your extra days and select Additional days — already charged. We are still holding your deposit, so you pay only for the additional time. Email info@chhandayan.org after you order so we can update your return date, and please do this before your current return date — days past it are charged as late days.

Pickup and drop-off is at 269 W 39th Street, Floor 5, New York, NY 10018 between 11 AM and 7 PM on weekdays, by appointment only. Return shipping is arranged and paid for by you.

Please read and sign the Full Size Tanpura Rental Agreement (attached) before you rent. Email the signed form to info@chhandayan.org or bring it with you at pickup.

We confirm availability by email after your order. If the tanpura is already booked for your dates, we will reach out to reschedule or refund.
