Aditi Chakraborty
Dr. Aditi Chakraborty was born into a musical family of Benaras dedicated to Hindusthani Classical music. She is the premier disciple of Padmavibhusan Late Smt. Girija Devi. She learned both classical as well as light classical music like Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Holi, Kajri, and Tappa under the able guidance of several Maestros like the Late Pandit Mahadev Prasad Mishra, the Late Pandit Pashupati Nath Mishra, the Late Pandit Mukund Vishnu Kalvint, the Padmavibushan Late Girija Dev and others. She is presently pursuing music under the tutelage of Maestro Sangeetacharya Pandit Amiya Ranjan Bandhyopadhyay.
She has performed throughout India and around the world since the late 1990s and is a regular performer on All India Radio & Doordarshan Kendra in Varanasi. She regularly conducts workshops across India.
She received a Doctor of Music (D.Mus.) in vocal music from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 1998, a Sangit Praveen in Vocal music,
Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad in 1995, graduated with Music Honors from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 1995, and received a Sangeet Visharad in 1987.
She has also received multiple awards including the “Jadubhatta Award” from the Salt Lake Cultural Association, Kolkata, the “Surmani Award” (in recognition of performance at “Kal ke Kalakar Sangeet Sammelan” by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai), and the “Dagar Award” from Sur Sangam Sanstha, Jaipur.
Vikram Mukherjee
Vikram Mukherjee is a Tabla player based out of central Pennsylvania. He started his Tabla journey at the age of 6 under Shri John Portopapas and is currently under the guidance of his guru Pandit Samir Chatterjee, with whom he has been studying in the Guru Shishya Parampara for the past 9 years. Most recently he has been recognized as a formalized Gandha Bandhan disciple of Pandit Samir Chatterjee. In addition to Tabla, Vikram is currently taking training in Khyal and Dhrupad vocal music under Guru Kishan Patel. Vikram has had the opportunity to receive mentorship from many great instrumentalists and vocalists and has been involved in several fusion projects. Some of his achievements have included playing numerous Tabla at the Chhandayan Center for Indian Music in New York City, being the founder and president of Pitt Sangeet and accompanying many artists. Apart from his musical endeavors, Vikram has been pursuing his interest in medicine and research at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pittsburgh.
