Rabindra Goswami

Rabindra Goswami (sitar, surbahar) has been a professional musician for more than 50 years and is recognized as a senior artist in his musically rich city of Banaras, India. Unlike many Indian classical musicians who have become well known in the West, Goswami plays pure, traditional raga music. Goswami is a disciple of the late Smt. Amiya Devi, and also studied the ancient Dhrupad style with Pandit Ramakant Mishra.

Later in life, he studied the advanced intricacies of raga with the great Dr. Balchandra Patekar of Bombay and Varanasi. Goswami has won a number of national awards in India, and he is an "A level" Artist of All India Radio and Television. He has performed across the globe and was recently a fellow at Yale University's Institute of Sacred Music.

Mir Naqibul Islam

Mir Naqibul Islam is a New York based tabla player from “Farukhabad” gharana. Mir has been trained in the traditional guru-shisya style of Indian Classical music from Pt. Ashoke Paul, disciple of the great tabla guru Pt. Jnan Prakash Ghosh.

Mir presents tabla solo recitals and regularly accompanies vocalists, instrument players and dancers from the Indian tradition. He also performs regularly with musicians from a wide variety of other genres, bringing tabla to Jazz, Chamber Music, Middle-Eastern music, hip hop and other contexts.

He is continuing his talim simultaneously with the great Farukhabad Mastero Pt Anindo Chatterjee and Pt. Ashoke Paul. His style has also been enriched by training with Pt. Gopal Mishra and Pt. Suresh Talwalkar in past as well.
